NORFOLK, VA – The Propeller Club, Port of Norfolk has been named the 2026 Port of the Year by the International Propeller Club, earning international recognition for the strength of its membership, its contributions to the maritime industry, and its impact on the Hampton Roads community.
Club President Chris Anderson, Vice President Bob Forrester, and Treasurer Jennifer Parham accepted the award Thursday, September 24 at the 2026 International Propeller Club Convention in San Diego, California.
The award is particularly significant for the Norfolk chapter as it approaches its 100th year serving the maritime community. With over 175 members representing businesses, government, education, military and other sectors of the maritime industry, the club brings together the people and organizations that make Hampton Roads one of the nation’s most important maritime regions.
The club’s work extends well beyond networking. Since 2022, it has donated more than $222,000 to charitable organizations, with another $40,000 budgeted for 2026. It supports maritime education and workforce development through its partnership with Old Dominion University and the Student Propeller Club, the annual Maritime Career Festival, scholarships and professional development opportunities. It also brings the maritime community together through its two annual Oyster Roasts, National Maritime Day celebration, Women in Maritime event and other programs, while supporting charitable causes throughout Hampton Roads.
