In recent years, the melting of Arctic Ice has opened up the prospect of Arctic navigation. A Greek LNG Tanker, under charter to Russia's Gazprom Energy, recently completed a voyage by way of the Arctic to Japan, cutting 20 days off the normal transit time. Other emerging issues include territorial and resource rights, safety, emergeny and environmental response.
Join us to hear Stephen M. Carmel discuss these and other issues. Stephen is Senior Vice President, Maritime Services for Maersk Line, Limited, and is responsible for all technical and operating activities. He has published several articles on Arctic issues and testified in front of the Canadian Parliament on the topic. He has also served as a consultant on Arctic issues to think tanks such as the German Marshall Fund and the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
